CB Hot Suit Takes: Adelina Eisen, Account Director, Anthologie
CB Hot Suit Takes is our new Q&A series for senior leaders and senior suits across the WA industry ~ covering careers, creativity, challenges and the song that sums it all up. Next up in the hot seat is Adelina Eisen, Account Director, Anthologie.
1. What made you get into advertising?
I always knew I wanted to work in a creative industry, something expressive, a little chaotic and definitely not a “sit quietly behind a desk all day” kind of job. I loved the idea of creating work that people actually see in the world and that could shape how they think, feel or act.
I’ve always loved talking, making friends and being around people, so advertising felt like the perfect way to combine creativity with human connection. Somehow, I’ve managed to turn yapping and feelings into a career.
2. Which piece of work are you most proud of and why?
The Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) “Without” awareness campaign which recently launched across New Zealand and Australia.
Never in a million years did I think I’d get the opportunity to work with one of the world’s most important humanitarian organisations. The team at MSF were incredible to partner with and gave us the creative freedom to be bold and different.
I had so much fun working on this campaign, especially collaborating with the most talented passionate creatives in the industry.
What made it even more special was knowing the work had the potential to contribute to real impact and real lives, not just attention. That’s the kind thing that stays with you long after the campaign wraps up.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role right now?
The world feels heavy at the moment.
A lot of the organisations I work with are tackling tough, real human problems like poverty, FDV, mental health, global health equity and while it’s incredibly rewarding, it can also take a lot emotionally.
I care deeply about the work, the people behind it and the communities it impacts so with so much uncertainty in the world, the biggest challenge is making sure you don’t lose yourself in the process.
Also, budgets…always budgets.
4. Was there a moment, a course, an experience, a mentor or advice that really kickstarted your career
Nita Davey.
She is one of the first women in this industry who really showed me what strong leadership could look like. Absolute powerhouse. Smart, respected, incredibly hardworking, but also knows how to have fun!
I learned so much from working alongside her, not just professionally but personally too.
She set the standard for the kind of leader and person I am today.
5. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned, professionally or personally?
The older I get the more I realise that while work is important, health and family is number one.
6. What song best sums up your career so far?
Everyday I’m Hustlin’ by Rick Ross.
Equal parts ambition, chaos and running on caffeine. Accurate.
