Introducing West Coast Crew: A new hub for WA’s advertising & screen professionals

A new era for Western Australia’s screen industry has arrived with the launch of West Coast Crew, a dedicated Creative & Crew Directory and Booking Agent Service connecting producers, agencies, and HODs with the state’s best creative and production talent.

Founded by Producer Kate Downie and 1st AD Mark Boskell, West Coast Crew is designed to simplify the process of finding and booking freelance creatives and crew in Western Australia, while supporting the growth of a stronger, more connected local industry.

As Western Australia prepares for significant expansion, including the opening of new film studio facilities next year, West Coast Crew steps in to provide what the local industry has long needed: a central, verified hub for advertising and screen professionals.

Through the platform, users can browse a curated directory of WA-based crew and creatives across all departments, or work directly with the West Coast Crew team to source and secure available professionals. The service is free for producers and agencies to access, with a membership model in place for crew to be listed.

Applications are reviewed based on credits and references, ensuring that only qualified professionals are listed. Opportunities for emerging crew are also being developed to help grow the next generation of WA talent.

“We wanted to create something that makes life easier for everyone – for producers who need to crew up quickly, and for crew who want their availability and experience represented accurately. With more agencies now producing work in-house, we also wanted to offer a service that supports those internal productions by connecting them with experienced crew who are ready to step in,” said co-founder Kate Downie.

“West Coast Crew is about professionalism, transparency and connection. It’s about creating the new normal for how we work together in Western Australia, building a stronger, more sustainable industry for the future,” added co-founder Mark Boskell.
