Nobay (aka Nobby) is the kind of creative who doesn’t just shift brands — he shifts culture. With a career that’s taken him from London and New York to Sydney, he’s racked up over 40 Cannes Lions, led Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney to three consecutive Campaign Brief Australian Agency of the Year titles, built agencies like Droga5 Sydney and Marcel from the ground up, and earned a spot on AdAge’s Top 50 Global Creative Thinkers.
But awards only tell half the story. Nobby’s known for taking risks others won’t — from penning plays and staging art exhibitions, to turning ABC’s ArtBreaks into experimental poetry films. His mantra? Double the trust. Halve the budget.
Now co-founder of Favourite Child Studio, he continues to blur the lines between art, tech, and storytelling — proving that when you’re a natural maker, you never stop moving.
Says Nobay: “We’re a WA registered co, thanks to my partner Stephen Tate being based in Perth, and also it’s the location for a feature film I wrote, and currently hustling to get up early next year, so EMERGENCE seemed a natural place to kick off the conversation. Ironically, I haven’t touched booze for over a decade, but I’m pretty sure I invested significantly in Margaret River back in the day, so I’m hoping for some good karma there!”
