Start partners with Joondalup Festival to launch spectacular 2025 season

Start Digital has teamed up with Joondalup Festival to energise Perth’s cultural scene with a new OOH campaign, while unveiling a reimagined digital platform & aesthetic for WA’s vibrant arts celebration.

Spanning 22 days of cultural immersion from March 15th to April 5th, the 2025 Joondalup Festival promises an array of performances and activities throughout the City of Joondalup designed to tickle fancies and whet wonder.

Working alongside festival organisers, Start designed and developed a comprehensive digital platform that transforms the traditional festival website into an immersive program discovery experience.

“I went to Start to update our existing festival website and fell in love with them right from the ‘Start’,” said Sabrina Beddome, Joondalup’s Promotions and Communications Team Leader. “I was worried about the short time frame to turn around the changes but from the moment I spoke to the team, they put me at ease.”

The platform features intuitive navigation and powerful management tools, creating a seamless experience for both festival organisers and attendees exploring the program’s hot picks, including The Cube, The Water Dragons, and Common People.

Beyond the digital realm, Start’s creative team brought static graphics to life with out-of-home installations across Perth. The centerpiece of this campaign – a spectacular smoke-breathing dragon displayed on the iconic Yagan Square tower.

“The team was super excited to explore fresh ways to make Joondalup Festival a must-see across Perth,” says Emily Schon, Start’s Creative Director. “We took the existing festival branding to the next level – making it even bolder with accessible design, vibrant patterns and an animated installation at Yagan Square bringing the festival to life!”

Beddome added: “This young, fresh, and effervescent team truly has their finger on the pulse when it comes to all things digital (and more), and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.”
