Clockwork Films WA and cowboys bring a fresh take on mental health awareness

Working together with mental health organisation 20Talk, director duo cowboys and Clockwork Films have produced a series of mental health awareness campaign videos targeted at young adults.

Katie Trew, EP at Clockwork Films, says: “20Talk weren’t afraid of breaking boundaries to connect with Gen Z on their level. This approach gave cowboys the freedom to really push the envelope as both creatives and directors.”

The campaign saw the production of three videos. The first spot, ‘Therapy is Sexy’, focuses on flipping the stigma around going to therapy into a positive. The second, ‘It’s Okay to Feel’, shows that you can’t always wait until you’re at home in isolation to let your feelings out, and you shouldn’t have to. The final spot, ‘What Comes Next?’, asks viewers to consider what comes after asking someone if they are alright.

The cowboys’ director duo comprised of Luke Hackett and Alex Gibbs had this to say: “Gen Z is generally pretty savvy when it comes to mental health. For 20Talk, this campaign is about extending that awareness and breaking down stigmas beyond mainstream messaging,” said Hackett.

Gibbs added: “Each of the three videos is very distinct. With a visual-first approach, we’ve managed to capture the attention of Gen Z. Ultimately, it’s the relatability of each spot that will drive the message home.”
