Channel 7 brings Christmas magic to WA
Perth’s CBD was filled with festive cheer on Saturday, 7 December, as the Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant illuminated St Georges Terrace with a spectacular Christmas celebration.
The WA community gathered to witness the enchanting display of 20 dazzling floats and 56 walking groups featuring 700 local dancers, musicians and performers.
The festivities started with a performance by Emma Memma, who captivated the crowd with her debut at the Christmas Pageant. She performed her new hit “Christmas Lights,” along with a selection of popular Christmas carols.
Leading the floats were 7NEWS presenters Rick Ardon and Susannah Carr, Samantha Jolly and Ryan Daniels.
This year’s lineup welcomed an exciting new addition – the Home and Away float. Beloved Summer Bay residents Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson), James Stewart (Justin Morgan), Hailey Pinto (Abigail Fowler), and Tristan Gorey (Levi Fowler) made a special appearance, delighting thousands of fans along the Terrace.
The evening featured a spectacular fireworks display, culminating with the North Pole’s star resident, Santa Claus, merrily greeting the crowd, joined by Emma Memma in his sleigh, marking the perfect end of a magical night.
7NEWS Perth, Director, Ray Kuka said “It’s the 7NEWS team’s favourite event of the year. Seeing the happiness on the faces of families is such a reward, knowing Seven helps spread Christmas cheer across Perth, especially when so many are struggling.”
The Christmas Pageant broadcast hosted by Tim Mcmillan and Angela Tsun, alongside Charlotte Goodlet, was aired last week on Channel 7, reaching a total of 99,800 people.
An encore will be broadcast at 9.30am on Christmas Day and is now available to stream on 7plus.
The Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant was proudly supported by Channel 7, The West Australian, State Government of WA, City of Perth, Activ, and Nova.
