6PR strengthens afternoons, drive + AFL in 2025

6PR has announced its refreshed 2025 afternoon lineup with an extended Perth Live with Oliver Peterson 1pm – 5pm and a revamped Wide World of Sports with Mark Readings 5pm – 7pm.

Peterson (pictured left) who’s been at the helm of 6PR’s Perth Live program since 2017 is looking forward to setting the agenda earlier in the day, saying: “I’m excited to be presenting Perth Live in the new time slot. All the afternoon favourites will be there and we’ll tackle the issues that have Perth talking, it’ll be fun, can’t wait.”

Readings (pictured right), a respected Perth journalist and broadcaster of 30 years’ experience, will drive Perth home in 2025 with an all-new 2-hour edition of Wide World of Sports.

Readings said: “I’m excited to be part of the iconic Wide World of Sports brand. I can’t wait to talk sport on a daily basis and discuss the hottest issues with our WA sporting champions as co-hosts in the studio every week.”

In 2025, 6PR will also call every Thursday and Friday Night AFL game, along with the usual coverage across Saturdays and Sundays, giving Perth listeners access to the best live and local commentary as well as pre-game and post-game analysis.

Greg Byrnes, Head of Content, Nine Radio, said: “It will be a fresh start on 6PR afternoons, built around our strengths of live and local information, entertainment and sport. The response to Simon Beaumont’s return has been overwhelming and given the high regard for Oliver and Mark, 6PR will be strong right across the day.

“There’ll also be more AFL, with live local calls on Thursday and Friday nights and the weekend, along with a new Saturday sports show to be hosted by Adam Papalia.”

Rick Lenarcic, National Direct Sales Manager, Nine Radio, said: “This rejuvenated line up, bolstered by a new look direct sales team under the local leadership of George Kailis, means we’re on track for a strong result in 2025.”

Perth Live with Oliver Peterson 1pm – 5pm and Wide World of Sports with Mark Readings 5pm – 7pm will commence on Monday, January 13, 2025.
