Xavier Ellis and Katie Lamb team up for new look 92.9 Triple M Breakfast show

92.9 Triple M has announced a new look breakfast show, hosted by Xavier Ellis and Katie Lamb, which kicks off on Monday 21 October 2024. No strangers to the Triple M airwaves, the pair are the ideal combination of sport-loving and entertaining Perth identities to wake up the city.

Ellis is a well-known former AFL player, or as he prefers, a self-proclaimed ‘mediocre’ AFL player, who won a premiership with the Hawthorn Football Club before joining the West Coast Eagles in 2013. Following his 2016 retirement from the AFL, Ellis transitioned to media, bringing his footy knowledge, sharp wit, and engaging personality to radio. He was part of the team that launched Triple M in Perth and is a favourite among Triple M listeners who enjoy his ability to balance detailed footy analysis with entertaining banter. Triple M listeners are also familiar with Ellis’ regular tales of playing in the 2008 AFL Grand Final and the lingering question about if he was ‘robbed’ of the Norm Smith medal; of course, this question is mostly raised by Ellis himself!

Ellis has been entertaining Perth on the Triple M Breakfast show for years and his willingness to poke fun at himself is the perfect match for co-host Katie Lamb who has racked up a legion of fans for her hilarious social media skits. Most recently the host of Triple M’s The Rush Hour, Lamb is a force in her own right who has spent more than a decade building her radio career. Outside of the studio Lamb is a passionate sports fan and participant, whether that be netball or beer pong.

Off-air Ellis and Lamb have been great mates for years and are excited to combine their talents for Triple M Breakfast with Xav & Katie on 92.9 Triple M.

Ellis said: “I’m so excited to team up with my good mate, Katie. I thoroughly enjoy laughing with, and at Katie on-air, at the pub or on social media. We’re going to have a fun time together, and we can’t wait to bring this fun to our wonderful listeners. On a side note, I will be auditing her Monday ‘sick days’!”

Lamb said: “Besides the 4am alarm, I’m so excited to move into Breakfast! I feel like Xav and I will have a lot of fun together, we are both in our 30s and both love a good time. It’s a match made in heaven! I can’t wait to see out the rest of the year together and hit the ground running in 2025. I’m super excited and so grateful for this opportunity.”
