Vale Alex Pekish
Alex Pekish, who was instrumental in managing the Mitchells/Emitch business (now Carat WA) when it first launched in Perth back in 2007, passed away on Friday 27th September after a long battle with cancer.
While in Perth Pekish successfully juggled two roles – National Buying Director for Mitchell’s Communication Group and General Manager of Mitchell’s WA.
Pekish’s family wishes to extend an invitation to those who knew and loved him to a memorial service to be held at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, 122 Jasper Road, Bentleigh on 11th October 2024 at 11 am. This will be followed with a celebration of Pekish’s life at the Moorabbin Bowls Club, 426-428 South Road, Moorabbin, from 1pm until 5pm.
For those in Perth, there is a gathering this Saturday afternoon, October 12, at The Brisbane from 3pm in his honour.
Generous and incredibly cheeky, with a big smile, Pekish has requested instead of flowers that donations are made to the Snowdome Foundation.
Dress: Pekish has requested traditional attire of a memorial service, however with bright colours to be included reflective of his personality.

Taken from us far too soon. A true legend of the media industry. I was fortunate to work with Alex and will always remember him with much fondess. Never did a day go by without a debate (mostly about his unwavering support of Collingwood) and/or laughter. RIP my friend.
It was a wild time when the big guns from over east stormed in to set up shop. But there was Alex, the calm. Alex never tried to be better than us, he listened, he genuinely cared, he was a great leader. Alex believed in me & believed in the team. We had fun & we worked hard. He lifted people up. I had the utmost respect for him. I loved our banter and will cherish the memories. RIP friend.
Alex brought his unique humour and passion to the role that he was assigned to by his mate Stuart Mitchell when he arrived in Perth, almost 2 decades ago. I loved his quirky humour and collaborative management style, and we quickly became firm friends. It’s been a very sad time but I am so very grateful that I had the opportunity to work with and befriend this awesome human.
