Start launches new website for RTRFM 92.1
Start Digital has launched a bold new website for RTRFM 92.1, turning over a new leaf for Perth’s longest-running alternative radio station.
RTRFM, a cornerstone of Perth’s music scene for 47 years, partnered with Start to create a website that reflects the station’s eclectic spirit and appeals to a new generation of listeners.
“Our brief was to capture the essence of RTRFM online,” said Emily Schon, Lead Designer at Start. “We’ve created a site that’s visually striking and user-friendly, mirroring the station’s diverse programming and community focus.”
The new website features strong graphics, intuitive navigation, and seamless integration of RTRFM’s live stream and mix archives. These elements combine to create an absorbing experience that complements the station’s on-air offerings.
Simon Miraudo, Station Manager at RTRFM, said: “We’re so grateful for Start Digital’s collaboration on RTRFM’s new website; they took our brief to make music the hero once again and developed something so fresh and innovative. It sets the stage for the unveiling of RTR2, which is such an exciting expansion of what RTRFM does, and what our amazing presenters and curators have made since 1977. We couldn’t have taken this next step without Start Digital’s team.”
Operating with a core staff of eight and supported by around 350 volunteer presenters, RTRFM exemplifies the power of community in broadcasting. This website refresh marks a significant step in the station’s ongoing evolution, aiming to attract younger listeners while serving its dedicated base.
“It really can’t be overstated just how important RTRFM is to the arts and music community of WA,” adds Start Digital’s Managing Director Neil Mason.
“As a former volunteer back in the early 2000s, I’m incredibly proud that Start has played a role in ushering in a new online era for the station. Simon and the team have been wonderful to work with, and we’re looking forward to even bigger things for the RTRFM website in the near future!”
