Anthologie and Innovation Unit present Doing Design Differently: conversations with George Aye of Greater Good Studio, Chicago – Tuesday 29th

Anthologie and Innovation Unit, two of Perth leading design firms dedicated to social good, are partnering with a network of practitioners across the country to present Doing Design Differently: conversations with George Aye of Greater Good Studio, Chicago.

The Doing Design Differently tour invites design practitioners, leaders, academics, and students to engage critically and constructively with questions of power and ethics.

This is a five-city event series across Australia and Aotearoa, where leading design practitioners, academics, and supporters local to each context will host conversations on how people can use design to push back against the status quo.

Through a mix of talks, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, visiting speaker and facilitator George Aye will kick off conversations that challenge the normative ideals of design.

Join the Doing Design Differently Perth event, as they try to change how design happens in this part of the world: how design work is commissioned, who gets to be a designer, how they can shape the conditions and outcomes of their projects, and where the benefits and damage of design land.

George Aye co-founded Greater Good Studio to use design to heal, to be just, to be restorative. After seven years at a global innovation firm, he was hired as the first human-centred designer at the Chicago Transit Authority. Since founding Greater Good, he guides clients and teams through complex projects that honour reality, create ownership, and build power. He speaks frequently across the US and internationally.

This tour of Australia and Aotearoa is being coordinated by CoDesignCo, a network of practitioners learning and sharing about creative and participatory approaches, and supported by Innovation Unit and Anthologie. Local partners in each city hosting George include: Folk; Beyond Sticky Notes; UNSW School of Art & Design; For Purpose; Design Programmes, Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries, Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland; and Toi Āria: Design for Public Good and the School of Design at Toi Rauwhārangi: College of Creative Arts, Massey University.
