Independent agency GT Communications marks 20th anniversary with new client wins

Integrated PR and communications agency, GT Communications, is celebrating 20 years in market with the announcement of significant new client wins on the back of the company’s opening of its east coast base. Founder and Executive Director, Gemma Tognini, has also flagged a giving initiative linked to the milestone.
“I started this company in my spare room in Perth with a $500 computer and dial up internet,” Tognini (pictured) said. “It feels surreal to be where we are today, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the journey.
“We expanded to Sydney in November 2020, which proved to be extremely challenging but ultimately, had us placed in the box seat for the end of the pandemic.
“We have since seen strong growth and are enjoying showing the east coast market why we are different, and what it takes to thrive over two decades.”
To coincide with the milestone, GT Communications has announced new client partnerships with Australian owned, global human services organisation, Angus Knight Group, The National Breast Cancer Foundation, international hotelier brand, The Fullerton Hotel Sydney, energy and infrastructure specialist, Zinfra as well as aerial intelligence leader, Xplorate Asia Pacific.
“I’m extremely proud of our experienced team of specialists and the growth we have experienced during what was an extremely challenging period for businesses, nationally,” explained Tognini. “These exciting new client partnerships are a true testament to our reputation for excellence and its ability to drive meaningful client relationships and lasting value.”
Founded in 2003, GT Communications was born out of a desire for a more fulfilling and purpose-driven career.
“I had been in TV news for close to a decade, a working journalist since I was 20 and I very much wanted my life to look different. I wanted a greater degree of self-determination, and I believed that I may have had an aptitude for strategy and advisory work. So, I took the leap of faith and here I am.”
Tognini attributes GT Communications’ success over the past 20 years to a focus on relationship and quality of work, first.
“We truly believe in relationship as the bedrock of our culture,” Tognini said. “With each other as a team, and with our client partners.
“We are not just a team of specialists, but a carefully curated senior team, renowned for how we do what we do. By listening, by truly partnering with our clients, we deliver the commercial outcomes of a large firm, with the personalised attention that only a boutique business can offer. That has proven to be a solid foundation through two GFCs, a recession and a global pandemic!”
Tognini has also flagged a purpose-driven, philanthropic initiative to mark the 20 years in business.
Tognini said: “Without trying to be shy about it, we are still finalising the details, it’s been a very busy year!”
“We are fine tuning a few things and look forward to announcing what will be a grass roots community program soon.”
The agency follows a ‘build, grow, protect’ mantra, focused on helping clients stand out in today’s increasingly crowded marketplace, for all the right reasons. By driving debates, influencing outcomes, and helping clients achieve their business goals, GT Communications ensures a considered, creative, and intelligent approach to building brand reputation and authority.
