WAMA makes friends with AI

WA marketers enjoyed a philosophical discussion on AI and the future of marketing and communication, at WAMA’s second breakfast for the year, from keynote speaker, Dr Kate Raynes-Goldie, Cultural Anthropologist & Human Connection Designer, and Josh Edge, PADC President & Marketforce Head of Creative.

The pair looked at AI from all spicy angles, giving their honest take on its place in the marketing space moving forward. Both Raynes-Goldie and Edge encouraged the audience to stay curious (one thing that AI still can’t do), and unpacked the difference between transformative AI and generative AI (such as ChatGPT), which is still limited in its ability to invent, rather than repackage the things that humans have already made.

WAMA Chair, Rene Le Merle, said: “The last thing we want to do is allow AI to proliferate mediocrity, through a simplistic pursuit of efficiency. The discussion affirmed that we have an opportunity to leverage AI to elevate connection and effectiveness. We just need to ask the right questions, and Stay Curious.”

WAMA’s next event is in the diary for September 2023, where they plan to unpack an arguably even more intimidating topic than AI…creativity.

WAMA is committed to providing an experience that is accessible and inclusive of the widest possible audience, regardless of background, identity or ability. We are continuously working to improve the experience we deliver across all our channels, both online and in person, to this goal.
