On Tuesday 10 News First Perth Sport Reporter, ECU Broadcasting graduate, and former Hockeyroo Ashleigh Nelson hosted a panel for the Women in Elite Sport conference at ECU
The Breaking the Grass Ceiling: Women in Elite Sport panel featured inspirational sporting trailblazers who are competing and coaching at the highest levels in Australian Rules Football, soccer, softball and hockey.
The panel included: Michelle Cowan, West Coast Eagles AFL Women’s Operations and Wellbeing; Dana Hooker, West Coast Eagles Player and dual AFL Women’s All-Australian; Professor Sophia Nimphius, Edith Cowan University Professor of Human Performance; and Natasha Rigby, Perth Glory Player and Captain.
Nelson (pictured above) said: “Such a privilege to listen to our finest female leaders who continue to push for equality and growth in women’s sport. While there is a way to go before true equality exists the future looks bright as these ladies continue to break the “grass” ceiling.”
