Advertising Council Australia hosts ‘Get a taste of Advertising’ event for WA Students

Last Thursday night, the WA advertising community put its powers of persuasion to work for a client particularly close to its heart: our own industry.

The event – ‘Get a taste of Advertising’ – was hosted by Advertising Council Australia (in association with Student Edge and WA Youngbloods), and aimed to provide students and recent graduates with the opportunity to take a look inside the world of creative advertising, and the companies that make it.

Throughout the night, a range of speakers from some of Perth’s top agencies shared a series of insights, tips, and information about the industry – from the different roles within an agency, to breaking down the process of getting from brief to finished work, all with the aim of demystifying advertising and attracting a diverse variety of talent. Participating agencies also had the chance to showcase the work they’re proudest of, giving the audience a greater appreciation of the work and the depth of talent that exists within the Perth market.

On conclusion, many participants remarked that the night played an important role in bringing together industry and potential talent.

Jordan Flippin, Student, said: “Thank you for the evening. I found it extremely informative and it has definitely inspired me to pursue my interest in the advertising industry.”

Advertising Council Australia would like to thank the following speakers for their participation in this important initiative:

Account Management – 303MullenLowe (Andrew Douglas)
Strategy – Wunderman Thompson (Barry Walker)
Creative & Design – Rare (Simon Mullins and Taylor Evans)
Digital – Marketforce (Chris Andrawes and Adam Marshall)
