9News special event: Live one-hour solar eclipse broadcast Thursday April 20, at 11AM

9News will provide coverage of the once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse when the sun completely disappears behind the moon at 11.27am on Thursday morning, April 20.

 

To mark this extraordinary event, Nine is presenting a week of special broadcasts from Exmouth, the prime viewing spot, where up to 25,000 stargazers from around the world are gathering to witness the eclipse.

Live broadcasts and special reports from Nine’s team of journalists and presenters will feature across 9News WA First at 5.00 and 9News at 6.00.

Starting today and continuing throughout the week, Michael Thomson will front 9News at 6.00 live on location in Exmouth, with Tracy Vo contributing feature stories and Scherri-Lee Biggs updating the weather conditions nightly.

On the day of the eclipse, Thursday, April 20, 9News will also present a state-wide special, Eclipse Western Australia, at 11.00am AWST, featuring interviews and insight from a wide range of astronomers and scientists.
