9News Perth special report series Turning Point: Lessons from Floreat

9News Perth presents Turning Point: Lessons from Floreat, a confronting three-part series of special reports starting tonight on 9News at 6.00.
This gripping series takes an unprecedented look at the scale and impact of family and domestic violence in Western Australia, exposing the harsh reality of what’s happening behind closed doors across the state.
9News Perth’s Tracy Vo sits down with Ariel Bombara in an exclusive interview marking 12 months since Jennifer and Gretl Petelczyc were murdered by Mark Bombara in Floreat. The crime rocked our city and led to change within WA Police.
In Tuesday night’s report, part two takes viewers inside the Police Academy’s Scenario Village, where officers undergo newly implemented training programs to prepare for family violence call outs. These changes were introduced in direct response to the Floreat tragedy and reflect a broader cultural shift within law enforcement.
The series ends on Wednesday night when 9News Perth Crime Reporter Amber Wilkinson joins the WA Police Rapid Apprehension Squad on the frontline, highlighting life on the beat for WA officers and the real-life situations they’re up against in Perth, 24/7.
Turning Point: Lessons from Floreat brings together some of WA’s most trusted voices to shed light on a growing crisis, featuring collaboration with Oliver Peterson (6PR) and Rebecca Peppiatt (WAtoday).
The series will culminate with the release of a feature length documentary to be published across Nine’s platforms.
9News Perth News Director, Michael Genovese says: “This series is one of the most important and confronting pieces of journalism we’ve undertaken at 9News Perth and the voices in it deserve to be heard.”
Note: Turning Point: Lessons from Floreat contains confronting content, including audio of a distressed child’s 000 call.
