Start Digital relaunches as The Start
Start Digital has relaunched as The Start, emerging with a new identity and website that shifts from the boundaries of ‘digital’ to embrace strategy, culture, and innovation.
In a rapidly evolving creative industry, The Start positions itself among a new wave of agencies, working at the intersection of design, marketing, and technology, and proving agencies can embrace innovation without losing their human edge.
The move follows a string of major wins, including multiple Australian Web Awards, Good Design Australia awards, a Challenger Agency of the Year nomination, and global recognition at the 2025 Webby Awards in New York, where the studio took out the global award of Best Music Website for RTRFM.
For clients, it means tapping into an agency that places value on culture, code and collaboration – building brands that can adapt and connect in a space that’s constantly changing.
“Start Digital did its job for a decade, but ‘digital’ started to feel like a box. Today our work stretches from brand and design to AI, immersive worlds, and large-scale campaigns. The Start is a name that matches how we think – braver, broader, and never afraid to start again.” says founder and MD Neil Mason.
The new brand is stripped back to black and white with a single dot as its logo – a nod to Wassily Kandinsky’s idea that “everything starts from a dot.” On the website, that dot evolves into an interactive field of particles and images, a visual metaphor for ideas in motion.
“The industry talks a lot about technology, and fear often overshadows the conversation – but people get lost in that. We want to prove that emerging tech and creativity can connect in ways that feel meaningful, human, even.” Mason says.
The Start is moving fast. A new space is in the works. Partnerships with WA’s cultural institutions are expanding. Exciting new AI platforms are being rolled out to select partners.
“We’ll always be a work in progress. That’s the point. No idea is ever final. Everything begins, evolves, and starts again. We believe that’s how we’ll stay relevant – and it’s the ethos we live by: Never Stop Starting.”
