This Way Up: Australia’s Advertising Festival of Creativity rescheduled to 2022 ~ Signature events will still take place in November via live stream

The Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association (AWARD) has today announced that This Way Up: Australia’s Advertising Festival of Creativity, will be rescheduled to August 2022, yet signature events celebrating the industry’s brightest talent and creative work will still go ahead this November.

The announcement of the special award winners for this year’s AWARD Awards – the most prestigious advertising award show in the region – will be live streamed on November 4, as will AWARD’s 40th Hall of Fame inductions, honouring outstanding members of the local creative community.

AWARD’s The Work Behind the Work, presented by Google, will also bring together the creative minds behind some of the biggest ad campaigns from the last year in virtual format, entertaining viewers as it unpacks the inspiration, creativity and process behind each award-winning project.

Lastly, this year’s education program, consisting of courses such as AWARD Craft, AWARD Creative Leadership and CPC Mentoring, will now take place in February and March next year – details of which will be released in coming months.

Says Cam Blackley, chair, AWARD: “Unfortunately, we are all in a stop-start situation with lockdowns and impending restrictions when states and cities come to re-open.

“We’re deeply aware of the exhausting toll lockdowns are having on our creative community and know the industry will be in a better headspace in 2022 to dive into a full program of speaker events, workshops and celebrations together.

“This Way Up is all about connecting around a range of events as part of our own creative summit and we want to make sure the circumstances are right for us to deliver a great festival.”
