Perth Radio Survey 3 sees Nova down but still #1 overall: 96FM up to #2

Nova down but still clear #1 overall. 96FM made big gains and back to #2 position. Stela Media’s Marianne Stelmach, who has over two decades of radio industry experience, takes a closer look at the results of the latest radio ratings survey period.

 

#1 Overall – Nova
#1 Breakfast – Nova’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun
#1 Drive – Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel

Nova went down with all people 10+ but are still maintaining overall #1 position. They had big growth with 10 to 17 and 25 to 39 year olds. Interestingly they had big decreases in 18 to 24 and 40 to 54 year olds but are still #1 in those demographics. Breakfast, Drive, Evenings and Weekends are still #1. Nova are still dominating with the most listeners of 676,000 cume.

96FM had the biggest increases of the survey with a 1.5% increase for all people 10+ taking them back to #2 position and closing the gap with Nova. 96FM’s standout increases were with 18 to 24, 40 to 54 and 55 to 64 year olds. Breakfast has stayed in #3 position and Mornings, Evenings and Weekends have moved to #2 with big increases. 96FM also had the biggest increase in Cume with 32,000 new listeners.

Mix 94.5 have moved back to #3 even after a slight increase with all people 10+. They had big increases for 18 to 24 and 40 to 54 year olds. Their biggest decrease was with 10 to 17 year olds. The Mix 94.5 Breakfast Show had the biggest increase of 1.6% keeping them in #2 position with a bigger gap from 96FM. They also had increases in the Morning, Afternoon and Drive Shows.

92.9 Triple M have moved back to #4 position with a 0.7% increase overall. They had big increases with 18 to 24 and 40 to 54 year olds – 3.6% and 2.3% respectively. It’s put them in #3 position with 18 to 24 year olds. There were also good increases in Breakfast, Morning, Afternoons and Drive.

6PR is back to #5 position with a slight decrease for all people 10+. They have gone back to #2 position with All People 65+. The Breakfast Show stayed in #4 position.

6IX have stayed in #6 position even after a small overall increase but have decreased the gap with 6PR. They’ll be happy with the big gains with 40 to 54 and 55 to 64 year olds 1.4% and 3.4% respectively. Breakfast, Morning, Afternoons and Drive also all had good increases. They’ll also be happy with the 11,000 increase in listeners.

Mix 94.5’s Pete, Matt & Kymba – 13.8% (1.6% Increase)
96FM’s The Bunch with Clairsy & Lisa – 12.4% (0.3% Increase)
6PR’s Millsy & Karl – 9.6% (1.0% Decrease)
92.9 Triple M with Xav & Michelle – 7.4% (0.6% Increase)
6IX’s Classic Breakfast with Rob & Nat – 4.6% (1.5% Increase)

Cume Audience
Nova is still dominating with 676,000 listeners after the biggest increase of 26,000 listeners. 96FM had the biggest increase of 32,000 listeners but are still #3 with Mix 94.5 staying in #2 position. A really solid increase for 6IX of 11,000 listeners.

Perth DAB+ Stations
Smooth FM have stayed clear #1 even after as slight dip in listeners. Double J had the biggest decrease of 17,000 listeners. MMM Country had the biggest increase of 10,000 listeners.

Survey 3 2023 has been the launch of GFK’s Radio 360, new audience measurement system, and was conducted for Commercial Radio Australia from 26th February to 1st April and 16th April to 20th May 2023.
