Nova retains top position in GFK Perth Radio Survey 6: Big jump for 96FM up to number 2

Nova continues in the #1 position from today’s GFK Radio Survey 6 Results. 96FM had the biggest increase going back up to #2 position overall. Stela Media’s Marianne Stelmach, who has over two decades of radio industry experience, takes a closer look at the results of the latest ratings period.

 

#1 Overall – Nova
#1 Breakfast – Nova’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun
#1 Drive – Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel

Even though Nova had a slight dip in ratings they are still 3.4% ahead of the pack in the #1 spot and clear leaders in the 10 to 17, 18 to 24 and 25 to 39 demos. The Breakfast Show with Nathan, Nat & Shaun are flying with a 20.2% rating, just about double from the next two stations. They are also #1 in Morning, Afternoons, Drive and Weekends and have moved into the #1 position in Evenings. Nova also has the biggest cume of 672,000 people listeners even after a slight decrease.

96FM have had a fantastic survey with a 2.5% increase overall taking them to #2 position. The champagne will be popping for their big increases also for their 40 to 54 and 55 to 64 results with a 3.8% and 4.8% increase consecutively taking them to #1 in both demos. They also had a 5% increase with People 65+. 96FM’s Breakfast Show has moved to #2. Big growth also in Mornings, Afternoons (#2), Drive and Weekends. 96FM also had the biggest cume increase of 53,000 listeners taking them to a total of 503,000.

Mix 94.5 have moved to #3 position after a 0.4% decrease. Their biggest increases were with People 18 to 24 and People 65+. They are still #2 with People 10 to 17, 18 to 24, and 25 to 39. Breakfast went slightly down by 0.4% taking them just behind 96FM to #3 position. Mix 94.5 are still #2 in Mornings and Drive. Mix 94.5 have the second biggest cume of 568,000 listeners.

6PR have maintained their #4 position overall. They had a slight increase with people 40 to 54 and have maintained #2 position with 55 to 64 year olds. 6PR are now #2 in the 65+ demo. Breakfast had a slight increase and is still in #4 position and Mornings had a good increase also staying in #4 position. Afternoon and Drive had decreases taking them down to #6 and equal #6 consecutively. Evenings moved to #2 position.

Triple M had a 0.6% increase taking them up to #5 position. They had really strong increases with 25 to 39 (#3) and 40 to 54 year olds (#4). They had a big decrease in the 18 to 24 demo taking them down to #5. They’ll definitely be happy with increasing their cume by 21,000 taking them to 353,000 listeners. Breakfast went down slightly and they are holding #5 position. Basil Zempilas has now left the Breakfast Show and Xav and Michelle are continuing to present it. There were strong increases in Mornings and Afternoons. Mornings are still at #6 but Afternoons have moved to #4 position after being 6th.

6IX had a slight overall increase and have gone back to #6 position. They had a big increase with people 65+ taking them to #1 position. The new Breakfast Show with Rob & Nat is showing very positive signs with a 1% increase and the station had an increase of 15,000 listeners.

Cume Audience
Radio listeners are still increasing substantially, which would be music to all the Network’s ears! Nova have had a record cume number with 686,000 listeners clearly leading the pack. Mix 94.5 also had a great increase to reach 595,000 listeners.

Smooth FM Perth have had a fantastic launch into the Perth market starting off in #1 position with 74,000 listeners. Oldskool 90’s have moved to #2 position with 69,000 listeners.
