NOVA 93.7 GOES BACK TO NUMBER 1 BUT 96FM SURGES IN THE FIRST GFK PERTH RADIO SURVEY FOR 2020

Nova 93.7 has started the year strongly by reclaiming the #1 position in GfK Radio Survey 1, 2020 released today, but the big mover is 96FM.

Nova 93.7 rose +1.4% from S9/2019 to start the 2020 ratings year #1 on 14.0% P10+.

A resurgent 96FM is right on their heels, rising +1.6% to 13.6% Share.

Going in the other direction was mix94.5, which lost -3.5% to 10.1% and slipped to the #3 position P10+.

Nova’s strongest demo was 10-17 with a 6.0% gain to a 37% share, but it also made gains in 18-24 (+4.4% to 20.9%), 25-39 (+2.0% to 19.7%) and 40-54 (+1.6% to 16.2%).

It was a huge survey for 96fm, which made gains in every demographic and almost every session, recording only the slightest drop of -0.1% in Mornings. It sets the station up for a real tilt at the #1 position, something that was unthinkable just 12 months ago.

The change was most notable in 40-54s, which mix94.5 has owned for more than a decade. 96FM rose 4.6% to a dominant 25.2% Share, while mix94.5 fell -3.8% to 14.8%, putting them #3 behind Nova on 16.2%.

Hit92.9 was the #4 commercial station on 9.3%, followed by 6PR on 6.3 and 6iX on 4.6%.

In Breakfast, Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun were #1 on 15.5% followed by 96FM’s Botica’s Bunch on 13.3% and hit92.9’s new line-up Xavier, Juelz & Pete on 9.6%. mix94.5’s Clairsy, Matt & Kymba fell -3.9% to be #4 on 8.7%.

Nova 93.7 recorded the biggest P10+ Cumulative Audience with 573,000 and the biggest Average Audience with 28,000.

Nova Entertainment’s SmoothFM was also the #1 DAB+ digital station in Perth, gaining +14,000 to a Cumulative Audience of 50,000 P10+.
