Nine Perth continues to support the new generation of media professionals

Nine Perth continues its commitment to supporting the new generation of aspiring media professionals by partnering with ECU’s Post Graduate Diploma of Broadcasting for a fifth year.

The collaboration, which launched in 2017, engages students by providing them invaluable industry insight and hands-on experience in the world of broadcast and television.

Furthermore, it allows students the unique opportunity to showcase their work on free-to-air television, with a select number of student-produced stories set to feature in a 30-minute program broadcast on Channel 9 Perth (and to regional WA viewers via WIN) later this year.

Nine Perth’s Program, Marketing & Communications Manager Peter Brennan, and Operations Manager Steve Marshall, recently met with students to discuss the 2021 program theme, Inspiring Perth Influencers, with students presenting story proposals for feedback.

ECU graduate and now 9News reporter Kelly Haywood also spoke to the students, relaying key industry advice and offering further guidance.

ECU Post Graduate Diploma of Broadcasting Course Coordinator, Andrea Burns, is proud of the University’s ongoing relationship with Nine Perth and it’s invaluable benefit to ambitious students.

“Nine Perth is actively fostering the next generation of storytellers and broadcasters. It’s so gratifying to watch our students rise to the challenge of producing a quality program, to professional standards. We are very grateful for this most generous and valuable partnership,” she said.

This year’s partnership will reward a deserving student Nine’s Rising Star Award, including $2,000 cash prize and an opportunity for workplace experience and internship.
