Metro Perth gets its first blue tree thanks to Marketforce and The Blue Tree Project

Yesterday, Perth creative advertising agency Marketforce Group downed tools, walked out of the office, grabbed tins and tins of blue paint (We’re sure they measured the Pantone colours just right) and headed to Mt Hawthorn to paint a dead tree blue.

While this may seem a little out of the ordinary, there is a very meaningful story behind it. A sad and tragic story. A young man, Jayden, one day painted a tree on his farm blue. His family and friends were unaware of his dire mental state. After presenting to and being released from a local hospital multiple times he then tragically ended his own life.

Yesterday was World Mental Health Day and Marketforce Group wanted to use this day to support the Blue tree Project which raises awareness around mental health and how the health system can be better informed and equipped to help young people like Jayden before it’s too late.

Says Marketforce’s Caitlin Totten, ‘The Blue Tree Project very much aligns with the values we live and breathe every day at Marketforce, especially the value ‘We’re we, not me, orientated’. We believe an inclusivity, a positive and open team culture – one where every member of our tribe looks out for each other. We believe this is key to a positive wellbeing.’

‘We’d like to thank our friendly client from the City of Vincent for helping us source a dead tree. We really enjoyed working as a team yesterday painting the tree blue and raising awareness around this important topic. ’

Says Adam Marshall, CEO Marketforce Group, ‘Problems can be fixed but people can’t be replaced. This couldn’t be truer, and we’re happy to invest our time into a day like yesterday to show our support for something as important as mental health.’

They say many hands make light work – it took the Marketforce team four hours to paint the whole tree, which is now standing tall and proud in Mt Hawthorn.

If you know of or see anyone who may seem like they aren’t coping, or may not seem themselves, remind them that it’s ok to not be ok. For more information head to bluetreeproject.com.au.
