Lotterywest appoints 303 MullenLowe as its sole agency ending relationship with Marketforce
Lotterywest has announced the appointment of 303 MullenLowe as its sole creative agency, following a competitive tender process. The contract is for a period of two years, with extension options available for a further three years.
The agency’s services will include Strategic Planning, Creative Services, and Implementation and Production Services.
Lotterywest Senior Manager Marketing and Sales, Glenn Donaldson, acknowledged all organisations who responded to the tender for the high calibre of their submissions.
“The final decision follows a thorough, open and competitive process,” Donaldson said. “We congratulate 303 MullenLowe on their success and look forward to working with them.”
Lotterywest’s current marketing communications partner, Marketforce, has held the account since 2015 when they won it from Meerkats and Longtail. Previously Marketforce had a 30 year relationship with the account that ended in 2010.
“On behalf of Lotterywest, I acknowledge the six-year partnership with Marketforce and sincerely thank them for the valuable contribution they have made to Lotterywest which has been transformative,” Donaldson said. “We wish them every success for the future.”
Lotterywest will continue to work with Marketforce during a period of transition. The new contract with 303 MullenLowe will commence in September 2021, while the current contract with Marketforce concludes in November 2021.
Lotterywest is the only State-owned and operated lottery in Australia where the profits are returned to the community. In 2020/21, Lotterywest achieved record returns to the Western Australian community totalling $864.9 million given to the local community through grants and lottery prizes.

That is big news indeed. Well done to the 303ML team – a real achievement and milestone…you should be very proud and should celebrate. My heart goes out to all @ MF – who have consistently done a sterling job with LW.
Congrats 303 and commiserations MF. It needs to be recognised that the process run by Lotterywest was really fair, well thought through and considerate.
Does this mean that TAB can come home to MF now?
The end of an era for MF and a new era for 303.
Redefines 303 and now we wait to see the new MF.
Gone are the days when they would get the budget in advance.
The tender was very much financially led. To win it would mean being very ‘competitive’ with your pricing. This isn’t a client to build a supposedly resurgent agency around. Maybe in 1990, but not now.
Poor financials/low remuneration is the rationale for every pitch ever lost. It’s a good win for 303. $1M++ revenue and a blue chip brand producing high profile work in the market. I’d take that 8 days a week.
