Liam Bartlett steps down from 6PR & 60 Minutes

After a media career spanning more than 30 years, Liam Bartlett has announced his decision to leave Nine and step down from his roles presenting 6PR’s Morning program and reporting on 60 Minutes.

Bartlett said: “It’s been a real privilege and an honour to be allowed to present the Morning program in my home state and be part of the wonderful 6PR team. And my time at 60 Minutes has afforded me so many memorable moments in the footsteps of some of the best in the business. I’m extremely appreciative of all the opportunities.”

6PR Content Manager, Emily White, said: “Liam has been a force to be reckoned with since returning to 6PR. His unflinching interview manner and dogged pursuit of the truth has entertained and informed our listeners over the past two years. We’ll be sorry to see him go but he leaves with our very best wishes.”

Kirsty Thomson, 60 Minutes Executive Producer, said: “Liam has been an exceptional 60 Minutes correspondent. His reports from the world’s most far-flung places and his award-winning investigations into animal cruelty, government rorts and global scams will always be among the program’s most memorable. Liam is a brilliant journalist and a razor-sharp interviewer who cares deeply about the stories he tells. We will miss him and wish him every success in the future.”

During his time at Nine, Bartlett anchored 9News Perth in the 1990s, reported for the Melbourne bureau of A Current Affair, before joining 60 Minutes in 2006 where he covered numerous assignments and investigative reports, interviewed world leaders, sporting icons and celebrities, and was posted in war zones in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria.

Over the past three decades, Bartlett received notable honours for his work across all media platforms, winning national and international accolades including New York Festival awards for both TV and radio, the Matt Price Prize for WA’s Best Newspaper Columnist, as well as several state-based Australian Journalists Association Awards for investigative reports and feature writing.

In 2021, Bartlett returned to 6PR to host the station’s Morning program, whilst still reporting for 60 Minutes.

Bartlett will remain with Nine until November and his replacement on 6PR’s Morning program will be announced in due course.
