Greenwood_Komadina_BLOG.jpgLocal advertising production company Kick Films has been chosen to compete in The FACTory International Pitching Forum in Melbourne in March.

Titled Under the Volcano, their project is one of 12 international documentaries selected from over 100 entries. It’s about a remote recording studio on the Caribbean island of Montserrat, built by Beatles’ producer Sir George Martin, that for a decade saw artists such as The Stones, The Police and Paul McCartney through its doors before the island was devastated by two natural disasters – Hurricane Hugo in 1989 and a massive volcano eruption in 1997.

Presented by Film Victoria, The FACTory provides a unique opportunity for documentary and factual producers to pitch their projects to an assembled panel of top level global buyers, commissioners and distributors; receive expert feedback on the spot, and potentially secure financing and co-production deals. It takes place in front of a live audience.

Kick will be also be competing for a $50,000 prize. The team includes director Paul Komadina (above right), producer Cody Greenwood (left) and executive producer Sara Cline.

Komadina is a highly regarded local director. Some of his recent work includes Silver Chain’s ‘Loneliness’ campaign, Nature Play ‘Release‘ and WA Potato Growers ‘Todatoes‘.
