Bang Digital releases its sixth annual WA Digital Marketing Report

Local digital marketing agency Bang Digital has just released its much anticipated WA Digital Marketing Report for the sixth consecutive year, the only report of its kind to offer WA businesses a comprehensive snapshot of the digital marketing climate in WA.

“For the 2019 Report, we have drilled down even further to provide industry specific results and recommendations,” said Managing Director of Bang Digital Renae Lunjevich, the driving force behind the development and sharing of the annual Report.

“Despite 98.4% of the respondents engaging in social media marketing, only 4.7% said that they were getting the best results through this method – indicating that there is still a lot of work to be done in effective social media marketing. Another interesting shift in the WA market was email marketing – this had grown in popularity amongst respondents to the second most preferred method of marketing, demonstrating the importance of maintaining an up-to-date email database of customers to be effective.”

Lunjevich said the Report was a very useful tool for businesses to benchmark themselves against their competitors.

“Each year this Report grows in popularity, as does the buzz of excitement from my team who are compiling and interpreting the data received. It is a great way for us to keep our finger on the pulse as to what the WA marketplace is up to. We encourage all businesses to make the most out of this tool when considering their digital marketing strategies and spend.”

Some other identified shifts in the WA market included:

•  98.4% of businesses engage in social media marketing – the most used form of digital marketing in 2019.
•  While social media is on the rise, only 63% of businesses engage in Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and 44.2% in marketing automation.New technologies such as machine learning and virtual reality have opened more doors for business owners to add to their digital strategies and service offerings.
•  18.9% of businesses are concerned about increasing competition online and looking for solutions to stand out from the crowd.
•  80.2% of businesses have analytics or goal tracking on their website. Digital spend for marketing activities has increased this year, with 35.5% of businesses expecting to allocate $100K+ to marketing this financial year.

132 businesses participated in the creation of the 2019 WA Digital Marketing Report, with responses coming from business owners, senior executives and marketing professionals.

It has been a busy few months for Bang Digital. In December 2018 they were awarded a Google Premier Partner award for AUS/NZ region in the Display Innovation Category. To be part of the Premier Partner Awards, entrants have to first become a Google Partner and earn the coveted Premier Partner status. This is Google’s elite programme for agencies, designed to give them the tools and support they need to help their clients succeed with Google Ads.

Lunjevich has also been shortlisted as one of the Top 5 Finalists in the WA Telstra Business Women of the Year in the Small Business Category. The winner will be announced at the end of this month.
