With the cost of living rising and house and rental markets becoming increasingly inaccessible, more West Australians are facing homelessness at a time of year that should be about celebrating.

To raise awareness and much needed funding, Wunderman Thompson Perth and Anglicare WA have extended their ‘Home for the Holidays’ print, radio and film campaign into a series of striking activations around Perth.

The activations encourage people to reflect and donate by bringing the sobering contrast of Christmas celebration to some the places people experiencing homelessness are forced to sleep.

Says Tim Newton and Paula Keamy, creative leads at Wunderman Thompson: “Showing the reality of the kinds of places where many homeless people could be spending Christmas, will give a much-needed dose of reality to the rest of us while we enjoy the privilege of celebrating the season.”

Says Bec Stott, manager, philanthropy at Anglicare WA: “Just as WA’s housing shortage hasn’t eased in the last year, the incredible team at Wunderman Thompson hasn’t stopped either – coming up with a fresh approach to highlight the state’s worsening homelessness crisis and support the work of Anglicare WA to help those who don’t have a home of their own to decorate in Christmas lights this year.”

The campaign kicked off at South Perth Foreshore for the City of South Perth Christmas Carols and a series of other locations will host the activations across the weeks leading up to Christmas. Special thanks to Shaun Atherstone and Mikey Hamer for filming the activations.
