3 Pencils for WA at 2022 AWARD Awards; Silver to Block Branding and 2 Bronze to Wunderman Thompson

The winners of the 43rd annual AWARD Awards were announced this afternoon at a live-streamed virtual ceremony. Block Branding has won Silver for their “The Avocado Collective” campaign in the Typography category. Wunderman Thompson was Perth’s other winner, collecting 2 Bronze’s for their West Australia Ballet campaign in Radio & Audio.

 

Hosted by The Betoota Advocate, celebrating the most outstanding creative advertising in the Asia Pacific region.

A total of 43 Gold pencils were awarded across 22 different campaigns, with a further 107 Silver and 158 Bronze pencils awarded.

Leo Burnett Australia took home eight Gold for its One House To Save Many campaign. DDB Sydney collected seven Gold pencils across two campaigns: The Ad Break Championship – GTI Hijack and Big Game Dream.

DDB was crowned Agency Network of the Year. This award recognises specific agency network brands instead of only holding companies as in past years.

CHEP Network took home five Golds and The Monkeys Australia were next in line with four Golds, followed closely by Howatson+Company who took home three. Two Golds each went to FINCH and Bear Meets Eagle On Fire.

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, Clemenger BBDO Sydney, Ogilvy Australia, Special Australia, The Hallway, Wunderman Thompson, DIVISION, Good Oil, Collider, Revolver, The Glue Society and Cheil PengTai Beijing all picked up one Gold each.

Revolver was named Production Company of the Year for the 3rd consecutive year.

Marketing Team of the Year was awarded to Suncorp.

AWARD Chair Cam Blackley said: “One of the things that makes AWARD Awards the greatest creative show in our region is that every year we see creativity that punches well above its weight. The winners here go on to trouble juries globally. It’s a big congratulations to all those that picked up on Friday, and a huge thank you to our jury president Neil Heymann, all the jury chairs and our team of judges who devote a huge amount of time freely to the significant task of metal giving.”

Once again, this year AWARD highlighted the top five production companies and the Agency Network of the Year awarded to the agency brand with the most winning work.

Winners of the entry-based Special Awards will be announced at the AWARD Awards Pencil Bar as part of This Way Up: Australia’s Advertising Festival of Creativity, to be held at The Ovolo Hotel in Sydney’s Woolloomooloo from 16 to 18 August. Special Awards categories include Individual Agency of the Year, Individual Creative or Team of the Year, Individual Director of the Year, Emerging Creative or Team of the Year, Emerging Director of the Year, Emerging Indigenous Creative Talent and The Grand Award.

During the festival, AWARD will also announce the winners of its Strategic Leap category who will be presenting their cases to a specialist jury.
