2020 PADC AGM heralds a club 40 Years Young and with a full agenda promoting creativity in WA

Last night kicked off the 2020 year proper with the PADC AGM at the Oxford Hotel in Leederville.

President Josh Edge announced the outgoing committee members Paul Coghlan, Ian Regnard and Steve Vojkovic while welcoming new committee members Melita Masters, Maurice Melchers, Cameron Jones, Lee Ingram, Ting Sia and Rachel Wong.

They join existing committee members Anneliese Sullivan, Claudia Brazier, Mel Branson, Henry Billington and Club Manager Tia Brazier. Mel Radman and Joel Pember were also announced as joint Vice Presidents.

It’s a big year for the Club, celebrating 40 years since its inception in 1980 and just over 30 years since the inaugural PADC Awards show in 1989.

Edge outlined a vision for the 2020 calendar, which involved several branded Commune events and a retooled Awards format for both the Diamond Skulls and the PADC Skulls night, aimed at greater ticket price accessibility and a more public presence for the work.

“We’re in a brave new world of creative stretch between the worlds of design, digital, production, strategy and creative in WA,” said Edge. “The PADC has just as many members outside of the traditional agency environment as within it, and we’ve tried really hard to reflect that diversity of membership over the past few years. The legacy of Mark Braddock’s five year PADC stint as President has been a renewed emphasis on the individual creativity of Perth commercial comms creators, and we’re all really passionate about continuing that approach.”

“Strategically, we’re going to add new events and award categories to recognise, inspire and educate as much of the local commercial communications industry as possible in 2020. It’s going to be awesome!”

The committee also teased the first PADC Commune for the year, which will take place in April and will involve a panel of prominent music industry figures.
